Brief 2 - Base - Packaging Design
I started by quickly writing out some possible products and sketching a rough idea of how they could look.
I created a quick mock up design of a possible flat label and developed it from there:
I started with THE most basic design I could think of. This is everything central aligned wit the logo at the top. All white packaging.
I realised quickly that I want the branding and packaging to be simple, not just boring so i decided to add some colour!
I thought making the colour of the packaging match the colour of the product itself would make the products really stand out, the colours really pop and would also make products easier to find to make for a much more efficient shop.
So first i literally just added colour:
I then moved the logo into the top left corner as it's the first place you'll look, it looks much neater and is a way more efficient use of space.
I then made the text right aligned so it'd sit along the right hand side of the packaging. this way it's forcing your eye to look left to right and down and all of the packaging in the order i want.
I also added a line between the product name and description to break up the layout a bit
I then made a net for a label of each product. I decided the barcode should sit the the centre at the back of the packaging and be the same orientation as the logo so as to fit in with the design as much as possible.
I also realised that if the label was printed in black on coloured stock, it would probably be MUCH cheaper than printing the coloured background too - as well as looking crisper and more consistent.
Placing the ingredients at the bottom of the product means they do not detract from the design in any way.
Here are some images of the packaging placed on products after i printed it:
